Leeton Town Band - Outback Band Spectacular

Leeton Town Band - Outback Band Spectacular

The Leeton Town Band Committee are now into the final stages of planning for the 2017 Outback Band Spectacular and are encouraging everyone to come to Leeton and enjoy a weekend full of live music performed by community and professional bands from around right around the Riverina, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.

Organised by local town band members and their families, this event is now in its 7th consecutive year and will be held this weekend; 11-12 November 2017.

Attracting musicians from all over Australia, the weekend provides the opportunity for small and large bands to come together, perform and showcase their talents while making new friends and enjoying the local Leeton hospitality. The Leeton Town Band will be joined by hundreds of other performers including the West Wyalong and Junee Town Bands as well as this year’s highlighted bands the ‘Premier V8’s’ from Douglas Park and the ‘Golden Kangaroos’ from South Turramurra, just to name a few.

“The weekend is jammed packed with bands and groups performing in local businesses and on an open-air stage in Jarrah Mall on Saturday morning”, said organising committee President Steve Hill. “There’s also a special performance for the little ones on Sunday in Mountford Park called ‘The Baby Proms’, hosted by the Golden Kangaroos. Kids can enjoy making instruments, conducting the band and maybe even lead the Golden Kangaroos as they march around the park! “ The Golden Kangaroos form part of the busy ‘Music and Markets in Mountford’ program starting from 9am on Sunday, in conjunction with the monthly Leeton Farmer’s Markets, with catering, market stalls and entertainment provided all morning.

However, Mr Hill guarantees that the highlight of the two day event will be the Mass Band Concert held on Saturday 11th November at the Roxy Theatre from 6.30pm. The mass band concert is where all the visiting bands as well as many individual performers, come together to play the same pieces of music all together, all at once.

“We’ve had over 100 performers all working on the same pieces of music for a few weeks now so we know that the final, Mass Band concert is going to be spectacular!” Mr Hill exclaimed. “We’ve had many people dedicating tireless hours of practice for this event and that will be evident on the night of the Roxy concert. When all of the performers take to the stage and play that first note; it’s truly an experience not to be missed!” Tickets for the spectacular Mass Band Concert are now available to purchase online at www.Roxyleeton.com.au.
