fragments

Fragments was a 2018 instalment of the Activating Narrandera Arts program funded by the Federal Government through the Regional Arts Fund (RAF). It was held at the Narrandera Arts and Community Centre between Monday 16th and Sunday 29th July.

Carver and jeweler Hape Kiddle, based at Bidgee Studio, Griffith, has developed the concept of Fragments which includes his own work and the work of several other local artists and practitioners. Kiddle gave each of the artists a piece of Red Gum and has loosely mentored them to respond to the material in their own way, applying their own practices, methods, and individuality to produce something original for this exhibition.

The artists and practitioners range from early-career to established, and come from a range of backgrounds including painting, contemporary art, jewelry and metalwork. Their diversity of practices are brought together through the commonality of the Red Gum.

Fragments gives the opportunity to showcase how one material can be used, interpreted and presented in different ways.
