Yiradhu Marang Creative Community, Lyllardya here!

I hope October is treating you all well and it comes as a timely reminder that Christmas is roughly 10 weeks away! (insert panic face here).

The countdown for Artstate is on! only 2 weeks remaining until the WRA team is on the road to see all the amazing workshops and speakers planned for the massive event spent on Kamilaroi country. We will have lots of updates coming out of this event and hope to connect with artist on the ground from across the region. There is still plenty of time to register if you are interested in attending the massive event.

WRA is currently in the process of establishing an artist network in our region. If you are located in the Western Riverina Area and would like to be apart of our artist features in our monthly newsletter and receive up to date information on jobs, grants and opportunities within our region then please get in touch! We are working on ways we can support and help our creative community. Reach out at comms@westrivarts.com.au.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Meet developing, emerging and established artist within the Western Riverina region!

Creative Community, Meet Linzie Ellis!

The featured work above is titled 'Aqua' by Linzie Ellis - a Leeton local artist, teacher and mother.

Linzie's work investigates the human experience of rural living, the isolation and wide open space. She explores the process of painting through a variety of techniques and materials and shows the true complexities of the painting medium. Linzie ignites the different sensations of water and the human condition.

The very talented Linzie holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Australian National University, as well as time spent as an affiliate student at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art in London, UK.

Linzie has received many accolades across the span of her career including recipient of the CAPO Reading Room Exhibition Award in which she featured at the Reading Room Gallery in Soho, London. She was also a finalist of the 59th and 60th Blake Prize and winner of the 6th Prospect Portrait Prize.

We encourage our Western Riverina creative community to show some love for Linzie's work on her website and instagram account. Let's rally behind our local artists and show some support for the work they are contributing within our regional art scene.
