The Griffith Regional Art Gallery will be holding an exhibition opening for For Nation For Country on Friday 15th June from 6pm.
When WWI broke out, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples had few rights, poor living conditions, and were not allowed to enlist in the war effort. Despite this, many Indigenous people did serve in defence of Australia. The Australia War Memorial’s For Country, for Nation exhibition presents the previously untold stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander military service and sacrifice, through a touching collection of objects, photographs, and artworks by Aboriginal and Islander artists.
For Nation For Country will be open until Sunday 22nd July
