MAKE Exhibition

When it comes to creating beautiful artwork, age is no barrier. This is especially true for a talented group known as the Murrumbidgee Arts Kinship Enterprise (MAKE). 
As part of Murrumbidgee Council’s Creative Ageing Program and with help of local artist Kerri Weymouth, 10 elderly MAKE artists are showing their work from June 9 to July 27 at Rivadestra Restaurant in Darlington Point. Inspiration for the exhibition is the Warangesda Aboriginal Mission.

Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium invites children to step into the action of the performance; each show, performers will invite a small number of carefully selected young divers to join them on their quest to the bottom of the ocean, to ‘swim’ with an amazing array of aquatic creatures from bygone eras.

Since its beginnings in 1990, Erth has strived to provide audiences with eye popping visual experiences. Giant puppetry, stilt-walkers, inflatable environments, aerial and flying creatures. 

Erth also delivers puppet-making workshops for children ages 5-10 and will bring a fun hands-on workshop to Griffith Regional Art Gallery on Tuesday 11 July.

This month Warangesda: Deep Waters will open at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery. The exhibition examines the history and legacy of the Warangesda Mission at Darlington Point, a significant cultural site for the Wiradjuri People. This is a partnership project between Western Riverina Arts, the Griffith Regional Art Gallery and National Parks and Wildlife Service, in collaboration with the Aboriginal Medical Centre, Murrumbidgee Shire Council, Waddi Housing and Leeton & District Local Aboriginal Land Council and Youth Off the Streets.

Tony Ameneiro, winner of the Fremantle Print Award and finalist in the Dobell Prize, is an artist and educator focusing on drawing and printmaking. His work is represented in many major collections including the National Gallery of Australia. 

His workshop at Griffith Regional Art Gallery (May 6 & 7) will look at monotype and drypoint printmaking processes and their combination with an aim to develop unique state prints.

Look Leeton First - The Leeton short film competition for local High School students!

Look Leeton First is an initiative of the Leeton Chamber of Commerce & Industry.  Students from Leeton High School, St Francis de Sales College or Yanco Agricultural High School are invited to create a short film (30 to 90 seceonds) that shows the effects of shopping locally or NOT shopping locally and enter it in ‘The Leeton Short Film Competition 2017’. Individual or group entries are allowed and the winner will be rewarded with a $1000 cash prize.
